Ah, highlighter. Is there any makeup trend more 2016? It used to be reserved for makeup artists and beauty gurus, but this year it has really made its way into the cosmetic bags of most women.
Highlighter is so alluring because it’s so subtle… you can’t see much at all (if done right) until you turn your head and the light catches the top of your cheekbones just right. I almost feel like a highlighter as nice as this one is the ultimate luxury product: you don’t use much, and it’s barely visible, but it just makes you feel more put-together.
This Kjaer Weis highlighter in Radiance has won TWO major beauty awards: the Allure Best of Beauty Awards (2014) and the 2015 Nylon Beauty Awards. It’s always cool when conventional makeup junkies see the power of green beauty! Not to mention the ingredients are seriously top-notch including a base of sweet almond oil and castor oil, which are both heaven for dry skin. Jojoba seed oil is also in the mix, another bomb ingredient for dry and mature skin.
This product is so brilliant because 1. it’s a silky, non-drying cream that blends into skin wonderfully and 2. the shimmer is just right, not even close to being reminiscent of a disco ball and yet also providing enough color to not appear too sheer either. So obsessed. I also think this highlighter would look STUNNING on dark skintones because the warmth would be more visible.
I use my finger tips which warms up the cream and then I pat it into the skin to deliberately place it. I don’t believe in using brushes for products this luxurious- you have to feel it. Plus, brushes would pick up- and hold on to- too much product than I can let go of for the price 😝. Make sure you always do highlighter after blush (in case of overlap) and apply to the very tops of the cheekbones, where the light hits naturally. Other places I like to highlight: above the cupid’s bow for fuller looking lips, a dot on the tip of the nose for a cute glow, and right above the arch of the brow to give the brows a lifted look.
Some things to note:
- This product is NOT vegan – it contains Beeswax (Cera Alba).
- It is not tested on animals, though.
- The ingredients that are agriculturally derived are certified organic (minimum 95%).
- For those of you that are iffy about palm products like I am, note that this product contains Carnauba Wax that is sustainably obtained from Brazilian palm trees. Yay!
- The packaging is both gorgeous and eco-friendly. It’s refillable! Which also cuts down the cost of each product. Saving money and helping the earth? Win-win!
