While in New York a few months back, I came across Rain, a cool natural brand that promises none of the bad ingredients like parabens and mineral oil, and also no animal testing nor child labor. Their products are handmade in South Africa, and certified Fair Trade in both Africa and Europe! If that doesn’t sell you, the purpose for creating Rain was to “provide jobs, skills, and hope to people living in desperate poverty, particularly women and the disabled.” It’s always nice supporting brands with good practices!
I picked up a Rooibos soap, Rose bath fizz, and Shaving Soap. The staff was so incredibly helpful, telling me which products would be good for my super dry skin and really explaining the ingredients in depth. Thank you, Rain NYC!
Apparently I’ve been pronouncing Rooibos (like the tea) wrong my whole life, so there’s that. 😂 But I picked up the Rooibos soap because it’s olive oil based which is great for dry skin, and it also contains turmeric which is killer for inflamed, irritated skin. The employee and I bonded because we both have eczema, which is basically a skin condition that never goes away but usually remains latent and can flare up at any time. I’m always super careful not to aggravate my skin so I don’t trigger anything! This soap is very moisturizing and also smells amazing.
Ok SO I hate to break it to you all, but that one main brand that makes bath bombs? Just because it is handmade and vegan, it is actually not healthy at all. You know who I’m talking about and it’s always bothered me that people equate handmade with pure ingredients. The products in that brand are unfortunately loaded with carcinogens and skin irritants (they even use parabens–who still does that?!) so I’ve been on the hunt for a better bath bomb for a while now. Enter Rain Earth Eggs! These ingredients are seriously like a 180 from that **brand that shall not be named.** They’re all good for the skin- they contain cocoa butter and essential oil on the inside and are coated with herbs and flower seeds on the outside! I’m dying to test this one out tonight!
Also, this Shaving Soap is such a great idea. I’ve had trouble finding a shaving cream that’s organic and isn’t too watery, but this soap fits the bill for being both moisturizing and effective! It contains castor oil which is literally a godsend to me because it’s is intensely moisturizing and long-lasting. I love anything with castor oil!
I bet I’ll be running back to Rain for more Earth Eggs soon. Have you tried Rain products yet? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
